 Listening Skills 

1. Don't discard or reject another person's perceptions with "It is that bad or It is not that big of a deal"

2. Ask questions so that you can better understand--not to fulfill your own agenda or manipulate the conversation.

3. Give advise only when asked.

4. Don't Psychoanalyze others.

5. Offer sincere support statements with warm gestures.

6. Paraphrase what you just heard.  Eliminates misunderstandings.
